In June, the world's most powerful heads of state will gather in Toronto with the purpose of shaping their preferred global order. The Dominion will publish a special issue on the G8 and G20 meetings and protests.
The Revue theatre has become a symbol of the fight to save alternative, independent cinema in Canada.
Photo: Jessica AllenWhether it's the Alberta tar sands or our role in Haiti, The Dominion has the guts to look at Canada without the fairytales about our national virtue that comfort and blind us. Our country is at a crucial turning point and we need the brave writers at The Dominion to tell us the truth about where we are heading. Truth telling shouldn't be such a radical act, but it always is. Only readers like you can keep this crucial voice alive and growing louder. Please, pitch in!
I commend you on your struggle!
Thank God you were able to save it! We here in Sydney, Nova Scotia are also fighting to save a theatre called The Vogue, a smaller theatre in the downtown core which has been bought (or nearly so) by a businessman who owns half of Sydney, and he wants to doze it and build an office building!
If anyone can also help with this, come to Facebook and look for the Save the Vogue group and/or visit savethevogue.ca
Not a plug, but a common thread. Let's keep these heritage movie houses open!
