When the Taliban claimed power, they forced women to cover their entire bodies and stopped girls from going to school. They also brought a semblance of security to Afghanistan that has evaporated since the NATO invasion.

Semblence of security?

Interesting perspective. As long as NATO and subsequently the UN don't flee the country pre-maturely, there WILL be a semblance of security in that country some day. The Taliban never offered that unless security is possible in the total absence of liberty.

I invite you to support the Dominion for the good service it has delivered to thousands of readers and independent journalists in the world, like myself. It is a site that publishes news that comes from the masses. The Dominion is the reference point for independent media. Supporting or helping the Dominion, it is helping to make the voices of the poor people of the world heard, like those in my country, Haiti.

About the Dominion

The Dominion is a monthly paper published by an incipient network of independent journalists in Canada. It aims to provide accurate, critical coverage that is accountable to its readers and the subjects it tackles. Taking its name from Canada's official status as both a colony and a colonial force, the Dominion examines politics, culture and daily life with a view to understanding the exercise of power.
