Newly disclosed documents reveal that open air tailings ponds from hydraulic fracturing—such as this one in Hants County, NS—contain high levels of radioactive contaminants and most likely other known carcinogens. The Nova Scotian provincial government is currently reviewing its regulations around hydraulic fracturing.
